1998 Blazer, loses power and engine quits at any given moment what is it?

The gauges all fall and the engine stops running, no dash lights, nothing. The starter cranks but the engine is getting no power,. Sometimes the power comes back and it starts great and then it acts up again. Could it be the Alternator or the voltage

It's a 98, it has OBDII, get the codes read. Some folks say autozone does it for free.
