Can a bad radiator cap cause overheating?

I think I might have a bad radiator cap. I have noticed that there's a small amoung of coolant right below the cap. Can that cause my car to overheat?
yes it can, over time your radiator cap looses pressure. buy a new one at kragen or autozone etc... its around 7 to 8 dollars
